Star Platforms Celebrates Engineering Talent as Callum Mills Wins Ant Eaton Technical Excellence Award
Powered access specialist, Star Platforms, is proud to announce that Callum Mills, Mobile Service Engineer at the company’s Luton depot, has been named the latest recipient of the ‘Ant Eaton Technical Excellence Award’. This prestigious accolade, created in memory of the late Ant Eaton, celebrates exceptional engineering skill and dedication within the business.
Ant Eaton was a highly respected figure in the UK powered access industry and a valued member of the Star Platforms team. Beginning his career with Star Platforms as a Mobile Service Engineer, he progressed to North West Location Service Manager, earning admiration for his dedication, integrity and leadership. Following his untimely passing in 2023, Star Platforms established the Ant Eaton Technical Excellence Award to honour his legacy and recognise outstanding engineering talent.

Callum was formally presented with the award this month in recognition of his technical ability, proactive approach, and strong commitment to safety and customer service excellence.
Speaking on why Callum was chosen, John Aubin, Technical Director at Star Platforms, said:
“Callum’s journey with Star Platforms over the past two years has been nothing short of impressive. His rapid progression from Workshop Service Engineer to CAP-qualified Engineer reflects his dedication, adaptability and technical excellence. Callum consistently demonstrates professionalism and a proactive approach, whether embracing new technologies or delivering clear and effective customer communication. His commitment to self-development and willingness to take initiative make him a real asset to our team and a strong example of our values in action.”

Accepting the award, Callum said:
“It has been an incredible journey since I started with Star Platforms, and receiving this award is a huge honour. I am proud to be part of a wonderful engineering team and will continue to uphold our commitment to engineering excellence.”
Special recognition also goes to Mick Barrett, Low Level Access Specialist, who received a ‘highly commended’ award.
John added:
“Mick consistently demonstrates outstanding professionalism, delivering complex repairs to a high standard, sharing his expertise, and providing support at short notice. His contributions have had a significant positive impact on our team and operations. This year’s competition was extremely competitive, making Mick’s achievement even more impressive.”
Richard Miller, Joint Managing Director of Star Platforms, commented:
“We are extremely proud of both Callum and Mick for their exceptional contributions to the business. Their hard work and dedication not only reflect the values we uphold at Star Platforms, but also set a strong example for engineers entering the powered access industry.”
