Star Platforms Backs Local Fundraisers in the Fight Against MND
Star Platforms is proud to support two local fundraising initiatives this month for the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association, helping raise awareness and funds for those affected by the disease.
The first saw the company welcome local resident and valued customer John English as he passed Star Platforms’ head office during his fundraising challenge for the MND Association. Taking on the remarkable challenge of “31 Days. 496 Miles. Thousands of Minutes. One Cause.”, John has already raised more than £10,000, helping raise awareness of MND and its impact on families across the UK.

As a long-standing customer and familiar face in the local area, John’s challenge struck a chord with colleagues across the business. Star Platforms was proud to support his fundraising efforts by sponsoring his challenge shirt and was delighted to cheer him on as he passed the office.
Alongside supporting John’s challenge, Star Platforms continues its commitment to the annual MND Golf Day, organised by Mick Grimsdale and his family. This year’s event, held on 16th October, was the biggest yet, bringing together 72 golfers and raising £7,487 for the MND Association.
Mick Grimsdale, who is living with motor neurone disease, has worked tirelessly to raise awareness of the condition and support others affected by it. With the support of his daughter, Lauren Petchell, the annual golf day has grown into an important community fundraiser, bringing together businesses, friends and supporters in the fight against MND.
Lauren Petchell, daughter of Mick Grimsdale and organiser of the event, said:
“The continued support from Star Platforms, friends and the wider community means the world to my family. We’re so grateful to everyone who gets involved to make the annual MND golf day a success, whether that’s through sponsorship, donations or simply helping to spread awareness of MND. Every bit of support makes a difference, helping to raise vital funds for the MND Association and the incredible work they do to support families like ours.”
By supporting both John English’s fundraising challenge and the annual MND Golf Day, Star Platforms is proud to play a small part in raising awareness, funding support services and backing those working tirelessly to make a difference in the fight against motor neurone disease.
Richard Miller, Managing Director of Star Platforms, said:
“As a business, we’re proud to support people and events that have such a positive impact on our local communities. John’s fundraising challenge is an incredible achievement and shows the determination and generosity of people who are committed to helping others.
At the same time, we’re honoured to continue supporting the MND Golf Day organised by Mick and his family. Mick’s courage and positivity in the face of motor neurone disease have inspired so many people, and the fundraising efforts led by him and Lauren continue to make a meaningful impact. Events and challenges like these not only raise funds, but also help increase awareness of a disease that affects thousands of families across the UK.”
