Temporary power hire and site set-up specialist, and Star Platforms’ sister company, Powertek has rebranded as Star Power and will expand its service offering through a strategic partnership.
Star Power will offer its specialist power services nationally through Star Platforms’ network of seven depots, creating new opportunities for both highly successful brands.
Bristol-based Star Power has built a strong reputation for providing a highly responsive temporary and emergency generator hire service for the construction, events, media and data management sectors.
Star Platforms has grown rapidly since it was founded in 2014 and now provides a national powered access rental service, sales, and training service, with depots in Luton (Bedfordshire), Coalville (Leicestershire), Tonbridge (Kent), Reading (Berkshire), Thetford (Suffolk), Bridgwater (Somerset) and Warrington (Cheshire).
Star Power’s Head of Power, Paul Ridley, said: “This marks a big and exciting next step for our business. Our strategic partnership with Star Platforms creates great opportunities for both enterprises.
“Star Power will be able to extend its reach nationwide. By having our teams and equipment located at seven depots across the UK, we can respond even more rapidly to customer needs, at a time when temporary power solutions are more important than ever.”
Matt Paul, who built the Powertek business over 20 years, remains as a director overseeing the company’s Bristol operation. He said: “I’m looking forward to helping Star Power forge ahead with its aim of becoming a national force.
“With the current energy supply risks, and rapid market changes as we switch to more sustainable energy sources, the need for reliable temporary power solutions is greater than ever before, and Star Power will be there to meet those needs.”
Star Platforms Managing Director Richard Miller said: “We’re very much looking forward to working with our colleagues at Star Power. In effect, we will be one team, meeting a wider range of client needs.
“There are significant linkages between our service offers, for example in the provision of powered access and generators for the film and construction industries.
“Our partnership will help us realise these opportunities in ways that control costs while adding great value for our clients. We’re going to have a brilliant future together.”
Star Power will roll out its offering through Star Platform’s depot network in a staged process in 2023.
As part of the growth strategy, it will also expand its offering of additional equipment and services, including water bowsers, fuel bowsers, lighting systems, and cabling, plus green energy solutions, such as solar power and light packs, and hybrid generators.
