Star Platforms targets large scissor lift market as part of £8 million investment

Star Platforms continues to offer its customers one of the youngest and most diverse fleet of access platforms in the UK after investing £8 million on new boom and scissor lifts in 2021.

Responding to growing demand from its customers, the company’s first major order of the year was to strengthen the top end of its fleet with the addition of 10 all electric Dingli JCPT2212DC slab and JCPT2223DC rough terrain scissor lifts.

Both offering 22 metre working heights, the JCPT2212DC provides a 600kg platform capacity, a 1.8 metre platform extension and 25% gradeability. The 4×4 drive rough terrain JCPT2223DC provides an improved platform capacity of 750kg, a 2.7 metre unidirectional platform extension and up 30% gradeability. Features for both include automatic levelling outriggers, four wheel steer and the ability to drive at full height.

Fitted with high capacity 48 volt/630Ah batteries, they not only offer the same performance capabilities as the diesel models, but also the added benefit of quiet, emission-free operation – a key requirement for Star Platforms’ customers in the warehouse and logistics sector.

The move into large scissor market is a big step for us and one that has been driven by the ageing fleet of big electric scissors in the UK currently. With buildings and warehouses increasingly growing in height, the addition of our new Dinglis will likely be the first of many as we look to become leaders in the 22-plus metre scissor lift market in the coming years.

The company has also added 60 rough terrain Niftylift, Skyjack and Dingli boom and scissor lifts with working heights from 10 to 28 metres to its fleet. These include 12 Niftylift boom lifts, ranging from the 12.2 metre HR12 4×4 right up to the manufacturer’s largest 28 metre HR28, as well as three 16 metre SJ46AJs and three 20.4 metre SJ63AJs from Skyjack.

Joining its mid-range scissor lift fleet include a large number of 10 and 11.75 metre Skyjack 6826RTs and 6832RTs, a mixture of 10 diesel and electric Dingli JCPT1418s and eight 17.2 metre SJ9250RTs.

The addition of our new rough terrain platforms have been specifically chosen for their ability to perform on demanding job sites and challenging ground conditions. Our customers will also be able to benefit from impressive platform basket capacities and the ability to drive at full or partial height.

The new units will be delivered across the company’s six depots throughout the UK, including at its latest South West depot in Bridgwater which opened last month.

Details of the remaining platforms that make up the £8 million investment are expected in the coming months, with the overall order set to increase Star Platforms’ fleet to more than 2,750 units.
