Star Platforms invests in delivery fleet

UK powered access rental company, Star Platforms, has continued to invest in vehicles meeting the latest Euro emission standards with the addition of its first 44 tonne articulated truck serving customers in London, Essex and Kent.

Star Platforms has added a DAF XF530 44 tonne articulated truck to its fleet, increasing its total delivery vehicles to 17 trucks. With a continued focus on safety and environmental impact, the DAF XF truck has a Euro 6 engine providing industry-leading fuel economy with up 7% increased efficiency, as well as additional features that ensure the highest possible safety for both the driver, other road users and pedestrians.

The vehicle features satellite navigation and telematics to improve route efficiency and to monitor and drive down fuel consumption, as well as a fully integrated four-way safety camera system. The truck also has a Sterling ST440 heavy duty tri-axle step frame trailer which is fitted with innovative recessed lashing rings to ensure safer and quicker securing of loads. The vehicle is built specifically with access platforms in mind, meaning all safety features have been considered in development.

The new truck fits an impressive load and can deliver two large deck scissors and a large cherry picker in a single journey.

“This new truck increases our capacity to serve our growing customer base across London and the South East. With our powered access rental fleet now at over 1,850 platforms we are always looking at ways to maintain on-time deliveries for customers and stay committed to our next day guarantee policy.”

Ian Mitchell, Star Platforms Operations Director

Keeping in line with the rest of the fleet, the truck is also FORS Silver compliant as well as meeting the CLOCS, Crossrail, SafeHire and CHAS standards – essential when delivering hired platforms to Central London.
