Star Platforms hire fleet now 89% environmentally friendly

UK powered access rental company Star Platforms has further invested in their environmentally friendly fleet and now offers 1,725 hybrid or electric platforms for hire, making up 89% of its entire rental fleet.

Star Platforms has continued to add to its rental fleet with purchases from industry leading manufacturers such as Power Tower, Skyjack and Niftylift. The investment is a result of listening to customers requirements and of Star Platforms’ goals of keeping their impact on the environment to a minimum.

Included in this is the Power Tower range of low level push around platforms and a full range of Skyjack battery powered slab scissor lifts, as well as electric rough terrain scissor lifts such as the 11.75m working height Skyjack 6832RTE. In addition, the company continue to partner with Niftylift to provide industry leading hybrid boom lifts to their customer base, from the HR15 (15m) up to the HR28 (28m) hybrid boom.

A significant investment in 10m mast booms, such as the battery powered Star10 from Haulotte, has seen the fleet holding rise to over 75 machines, with further investment due this year.

“Our ISO 14001 certification demonstrates that we have an effective environmental management system (EMS) in place and as we continue to grow and add to our fleet, we are conscious of maintaining our environmentally friendly goals. We regularly review our carbon footprint, and this includes our hire fleet. We are seeing more and more demand from our customer base for electric or hybrid platforms and are pleased the industry is moving to use more energy efficient machinery.”

Richard Miller, Managing Director, Star Platforms

Star Platforms also runs a fleet of company delivery and service vehicles. All are Euro 6 compliant and are fitted with telematics to help monitor efficient driving, including reducing idling time and fuel usage.
