Celebrating 5 years in business

We know you don’t want to hear our life story, but five years is a great achievement, so we thought we’d share some of our milestones with you.

The beginning

Star was born! Back in October 2014, Steve Simmons launched Star Platforms based in Luton, Bedfordshire.

Steve welcomed business partners Richard Miller (Joint Managing Director) and Bryan Freeman (Sales Director) to the board early in our first year, establishing a solid and knowledgeable leadership team for Star. In July 2015 we opened our Kent depot outside Sevenoaks, which remains one of our busiest depots. Then in September 2015, just before our 1st birthday, came the opening of our Midlands depot in Coalville, Leicestershire and the appointment of Ian Mitchell as Operations Director. It was a busy year!

Year Two

In March 2016 of year two we went on to hit a fleet milestone of 500 machines! With the expansion of the fleet came the appointment of Pep our Service Manager, whose team keep our machines serviced and inspected which is no mean feat, especially now we have over 1,800!

Year Three

Year three saw us hit 1000 machines in our fleet and we started expanding our accreditation list to ensure our customers can recognise the safety and quality on offer from Star Platforms. We were delighted to achieve not only FORS Silver this year, but also the ISO 14001 Environmental Standard demonstrating our green credentials.

Year Four

Year Four saw the opening of two more depots – our Reading and Anglia operations. We also took the exciting step to become sponsors of Luton Town Football Club – and what a journey it’s been! Back to back promotions and a fantastic buzz around not only the club but the local community has confirmed to us it was a great decision!

Year Five

Year Five has seen further investment in our fleet, and we now have over 1,800 machines available for hire across our five depots. We were also very proud to achieve the IPAF Rental+ GOLD standard, showing what a great hard-working team can achieve.

Phew! It’s been a busy five years; we can’t wait for the next five!
