Powered access specialists, Star Platforms, proudly sponsored the motor neurone disease (MND) Golf Day recently held at Stocks Golf Club in Hertfordshire, supporting Mick Grimsdale, his family, and the MND Association.
Richard Miller, Managing Director of Star Platforms, is a long-time friend of Mick, who is living with motor neurone disease. Together with his daughter, Lauren Petchell, Mick organised the event to raise crucial funds for the MND Association, an organisation dedicated to improving care and support for those affected by this devastating illness.
“Star Platforms were eager to support the fundraising goal and join the fight against this illness,” stated Richard Miller. “We were honoured to stand alongside Mick and his family to help raise awareness and vital funds for the MND Association.”
The golf day attracted 63 golfers across 16 teams, raising an impressive £5,771 on the day alone, with further donations already pushing the total past £7,000. The funds raised will support the MND Association in their commitment to providing care and support for those living with the disease.
Mick Grimsdale shared his personal motivation for the fundraising efforts: “As a family, we have experienced the profound challenges that motor neurone disease brings. This event goes beyond just fundraising; it’s about raising awareness and providing support for those like me living with this disease, as well as for families affected by it. We are incredibly proud of the success of this event and are hopeful for the opportunity to organise more initiatives like this in the future.”
Roger Widdecombe, Relationship Fundraiser for the MND Association, expressed gratitude for the event and its impact: “The invaluable support from Mick’s family, alongside their dedicated fundraising efforts, coupled with the generous sponsorship from Star Platforms and the enthusiastic participation of all the golfers, has been instrumental in the success of this event. Contributions like these bring us closer to our vision of a world free from motor neurone disease.”
