Star Platforms provide powered access equipment to help bring the Madge Gill Mural to life

UK powered access platform rental company, Star Platforms, has worked with Wood Street Walls CIC to provide a Skyjack 6832 Rough Terrain (RT) scissor lift for their recent project; Madge Gill mural.

Wood Street Walls brings public art to East London for residents and visitors to enjoy and called upon Star Platforms once again to help provide powered access equipment for their latest project. The Madge Gill mural project is part of the LDN WMN project, a collaboration between City Hall and Tate Collective. The project is part of Mayor Sadiq Khan’s #BehindEveryGreatCity campaign, which marks 100 years since the first women won the right to vote in the UK. In collaboration with local project “Works by Madge Gill”, the community were invited to vote on the background pattern of the proposed portrait of the artist via Wood Street Walls annual “Pick Your Pattern” initiative.

When the project came up, Mark Clack (Wood Street Walls, Co-Founder) called upon Star Platforms to provide the powered access platforms.

After discussing his requirements with the Star Platforms hire team, a Skyjack 6832RT 4×4 scissor lift was chosen due to the model being suitable for use on all ground types. Mark continued: “The scissor lift is sturdy, very easy to navigate and manoeuvre into tight spaces given its size and, most importantly, feels safe and secure when driving and elevating. Given the rough type of ground we usually work on, the stabilisers provide that extra safety element and provide confidence when working at height.”

The Skyjack 6832RT scissor lift is also driveable at its full working height of 11.75m and comes with a large capacity diesel engine, making it an ideal option for a project like this with constant movement back and forth, and up and down. The scissor lift comes with a 1.52m cantilever extension deck as standard, providing an overall deck size of 3.94m x 1.42m; providing enough room for two users as well as the equipment required to complete the task at hand.
