Star Platforms provide low level access platforms to new leisure centre build

UK powered access rental company, Star Platforms, provided nine 5.10m push-around Power Towers, and a 9.92m Skyjack 3226 electric scissor lift, to help complete the fit out at the New Addington Leisure Centre in Croydon, London.

The new leisure centre will offer a range of facilities to the community, including a 25m six lane swimming pool, 28 station gym, four court sports hall and onsite parking. The fit out contractor contacted Star Platforms to ensure they hired the correct platforms to complete their work, which included steel frame systems, partitions and dry lining.

“When we identified the need for powered access platforms, we got in contact with Richard Stok straight away. We always receive a fantastic service from Star Platforms, and Richard is very knowledgeable about powered access products and was able to recommend the correct machine for the job”.

With a width of 0.78m and working height of 5.10m the Power Tower enables operators to reach various heights in a tight space and complete the task at.

“It’s always a pleasure to hear from Steve and we pride ourselves in providing the right machine when the customer needs it. After a conversation about the work they were doing on site, we identified the Power Towers as the best option due to their lightweight nature. They offer an added benefit of battery powered elevation; making them very efficient when operators are consistently moving up and down as they were expected to do on this application”.

As well as the hired low level access platforms, Star Platforms also provided a 9.92m Skyjack 3226 electric scissor lift with a lifting capacity of 227kg. This allowed the operator to take tools up in the platform to complete the plaster boarding in the larger rooms of the leisure centre. With a width of 0.82m and weight of just 1890kg, this scissor lift is a popular hire platform for construction sites where the operator needs to navigate narrow corridors and work in tight spaces. Work on site is ongoing, and the new leisure centre is set to open in Spring 2020.

With a working height of 9.92m, deck extension of 0.91 and lifting capacity of 227kg the Skyjack 3226 electric scissor lift is a popular platform option for internal construction projects.
