UK powered access company, Star Platforms, have recently passed both ISO 14001 and FORS Silver audits, further cementing their commitment to their environmental and safety policies.

Since the company began in 2014, compliance with relevant accreditation’s has been important to the leadership team at Star Platforms. The company have recently successfully passed their SafeHire audit and can now add to that the successful completion of both the ISO 14001 and FORS Silver accreditations they have held since 2017 and 2016 respectively.

ISO 14001 – Environmental Management Systems

The standard includes the need for continual improvement of an organisation’s systems and approach to environmental concerns. The standard has recently been revised (14001:2015) with key improvements such as the increased prominence of environmental management within strategic planning processes, greater input from leadership and a stronger commitment to proactive initiatives that boost environmental performance.

Having committed to achieving ISO 14001:2015 accreditation, Star Platforms have created an Environmental Management System which has helped to develop a standard that has been implemented across the whole business.

The development of a robust internal audit schedule has helped to manage the effectiveness of the company’s Environmental Management System and to include more of Star Platforms’ employees throughout this important process.

FORS Silver – Fleet operator recognition scheme

The FORS accreditation scheme covers all aspects of safety, fuel efficiency, vehicle emissions and improved operations. Silver accreditation confirms that they employ good practice and comply with the requirements laid out by the FORS Standard. By achieving FORS Silver accreditation, the fleet is compliant with the CLOCS Standard for Construction Logistics and with TfL’s WRRR (Work Related Road Risk).

Star Platforms have successfully maintained their Bronze accreditation which forms part of the FORS Silver accreditation process. Their comprehensive fleet of HGV’s are all fitted with the latest on-board safety equipment including audible warning alarms, close proximity sensors and 360-degree camera systems. All Star Platforms’ drivers and engineers have attended the FORS safe urban training course and carried out the relevant e-learning modules ensuring that all deliveries to customers are being carried out by formally trained drivers on vehicles that are fitted with the latest safety technology. Star Platforms also measure their vehicle fuel usage which has helped to create a number of benefits including a significant reduction in idle fuel waste.

“We are incredibly proud to have successfully passed both our ISO 14001 and FORS Silver audits. These accreditations have helped to create a consistent standard across our entire depot network and demonstrates our full commitment to health, safety and the environment.”
