Star Platforms bring a Merry Christmas to Merry Hill

UK powered access company, Star Platforms, recently provided several Niftylift HR17N and HR12N cherry-pickers to Christmas decoration design & installation specialists James Glancy Design at the Intu Merry Hill shopping centre in Dudley, West Midlands.

The Niftylift Height-Rider HR12N has a working height of 12.2m and weighs just 3435kg. The HR17N is another popular choice for Christmas decoration installers as it comes with 17m working height and 9.7m of outreach, enabling operators to reach up-and-over various obstacles to fix their decorations in place.

Both machines have non-marking tyres making them ideal for working on the delicate internal flooring often found in shopping centres

The HR12N’s narrow chassis enables users to navigate internally, whilst the electric engine helps reduce noise pollution, so colleagues can work together to complete a task quickly and efficiently.

The Niftylift HR12N Bi-Energy and HR17N Hybrid power options allow them to run on battery/electric power indoors and outdoors as required, avoiding internal fuel pollution as well as minimising any noise pollution whist working throughout the night. The engine on each machine provides a useful back-up power option. Both platforms benefit from a compact chassis and are only 1.5m wide and less than 2m high when stowed, thus allowing the operator to drive through the shopping centre doorways with ease.

The HR17N helping the user reach a high ceiling over two floors of an internal shopping centre.

“We have worked with Star Platforms for a number of years and they are our supplier of choice when it comes to planning our Christmas projects. We always feel like a special client whoever we speak to in the business, and they always provide fantastic customer service working to the strict hours we have to keep and the tricky logistics of internal builds.”

Kate Cooper, Logistics Manager

As on many Christmas projects, time is of the essence and they usually take place at night.

Steve Simmons, Star Platforms Managing Director, added: “Having worked with this client for a number of years we know their projects well and are able to plan effectively. On projects such as this each department comes together to provide the best possible service for our customer, and it really is a team effort.”

The decorations are now finished at Merry Hill and can be viewed until the New Year.
