Led by our very own Charlotte Lake, Business Development Manager, our Midlands depot teamed up with their local Asda and supported the Sinfin community with a litter picking event on Sunday, 19th May 2019.
The idea was born when Charlotte was out with her family, including her own children, nieces and nephews, and her nephew Ethan collected some litter left by previous visitors and disposed of it in the nearby bins. The children were shocked that people left litter in the park and so wanted to do something to help. Charlotte decided to set up a Facebook event, and before she knew it lots of local residents signed up and were eager to help.
“I was so touched that at such a young age the children wanted to help their local community, that knew I had to arrange something. Giving back to the community is really important and with the support of Star Platforms and other local companies we were able to kit out the team and provide refreshments to reward them after their hard work. I’m already being asked when the next one will be happening!”.

Star Platforms were delighted to help provide the buffet for all the hungry workers, the local Asda provided the litter pickers, bags, bottles of water and fruit bags for the children, whilst Selwoods Pump Hire provided gloves and hats and Sinfin Moor Social Club provided refreshments for the workers. It was truly a team effort!
A massive well done to everyone that took part, especially the little helpers that are stepping up to do something positive to help their local community.
