Star Platforms help bring Christmas to Covent Garden

UK powered access rental company, Star Platforms, has provided seven Niftylift height-rider articulated boom lifts to help bring Christmas to Covent Garden in London.

A busy time of year for cherry pickers, November see’s the start of the festive season and this year Star Platforms once again hired the machines required to install the Covent Garden decorations.

Being a complex project, any delays or issues throughout the three-week build can put the finish of the display in jeopardy. With this in mind, the customer needed a supplier they could trust and once again chose Star Platforms to support the project.

“Not only are the machines reliable but we receive great customer service when we work with Star Platforms. Access to the site is restricted to early morning and late at night, and Star are able to work with our out-of-hours requirements with no dramas. We also consistently have the same drivers for drop off and collection which mitigates the risks of any issues circumnavigating Central London – no mean feat with a long flatbed truck! Star Platforms customer service is second to none and they are an integral supplier to our project year on year.”

Rachel, Project Lead

The 12.2m Height Rider (HR12N) is one of the most versatile and reliable articulated booms in its class. With a working outreach of 6.1m, it is a popular choice for Christmas builds and they are booked out throughout most of November. The boom also has a 1.5m narrow chassis, making it perfect for navigating the tight spaces in the internal environment of the market building. The Bi-Energy engine greatly reduces both noise and diesel pollution, and means the machine can be used on both internal and external tasks, making it a great machine for projects such as this.

The HR17N and HR21H hybrid machines enable users to reach up, over, and around the huge Christmas tree with ease. With a working height of 17m and working outreach of 9.7m, the HR17N narrow articulating boom enables the user to rotate up to 180° in the cage and gain exceptional precision when positioning at height, important for a project like this. Decorating the top of the 17m tree was easy with the HR21H, which comes with a working height of 20.8m and working outreach of 13m. Both machines allow two persons in the basket, also offering more space for accessories and materials such as decorations and lights.

“The lead up to Christmas is always a busy time of year for us, and our Niftylift boom lifts get booked up quickly for hire. We were more than happy to help support Rachel with the Covent Garden build again and pre-booked the machines to support the job. With our trucks being fully FORS Silver and CLOCS accredited, as well as our drivers receiving full training, we have a fantastic team to help support projects in the central London area such as this. At Star Platforms we will always do what we can to help make the delivery and collection as easy as possible for our customers, helping them to complete projects both on time and on budget”.
